Project Brief (Pitch)

Into the wild is an exploration survival game which players need to survive on a stranded island. Explore the island to hunt, harvest, and gather resources to survive in the wild.


The goal of this project is to create an immersive experience of surviving in the wilderness in the form of a game. The player will control their player character from a first person perspective to navigate around the game world. The player will need to be mindful of their health status, hunger, food they eat, and potential predators that may prey on the player throughout the game.


The game will be presented using Unity engine and played on PCs. The controls follows the first person control convention with WASD, SPACE and mouse as the methods of exploring.

Map Overview

This is the top view of our in-game environment. There will be four islands in the game, in which each island contains one type of resource. For example, the player can get wood from the forest.

Ruins

In the … there is a level in which the player needs to enter the ruin to continue the story.


The ruin provides more advanced tools (spear, hammer, bow etc.)

This is the setting of the swamp. The swamp can provide foods like fishes and plants.

This is what we imagined our game would look like in a first person perspective. On the left corner of that sketch, it has several icons to indicate the player’s current state (how many days the player has survived, hunger, and health state). On the right side of the sketch, it has an inventory grid to store different items.

Draft Demo

This sketch shows how the first person works in the game setting. Gamers can use weapons to detect animals in order to get meat. Also, gamers can pick up fruits and plants in the senses.
